Northern Hokkaido’s largest and busiest ski resort, Furano has hosted FIS World Ski and Snowboard events. There is a variety of scenic terrain at Kitanomine and Furano zones, both are linked by a slope and a lift. If you make a day trip by bus from the city center, the main base is Kitanomine Zone. Ski or snowboard equipment hire is available.

Getting There

JR TRAIN

Get off the train at Furano Station.

From Sapporo: take the limited express train to Takikawa (50min) and transfer to the local train on the JR Nemuro Line to Furano (60min).

From Asahikawa: local trains run from Asahikawa (70min) via Biei (45min) on the JR Furano Line, stopping at Gakuden.

BUS

From Sapporo: Chuo Bus operates Kosoku Furano-go (高速ふらの号) between Sapporo Station and Furano Station (2.5hr) via Kitanomine-iriguchi (北の峰入口), the nearest bus stop of Furano Ski Area. IC cards (such as Suica, Kitaca and Sapica) are available.

From Asahikawa: Furano Bus operates Kaisoku Lavender-go (快速ラベンダー号) between Asahikawa Station stop 9 and the New Furano Prince Hotel (2hr) via Asahikawa Airport, Biei, Furano Station and Goryo 4 (御料4線).

From Obihiro: Three intercity buses North Liner (ノースライナー) run between Furano Station and Obihiro Station (2hr 40min). Compulsory reservation.
