Kamifurano (上富良野) is a convenient jumping-off point for the Tokachidake Mountains in the southwestern part of Daisetsuzan National Park. Many climbers and onsen enthusiasts come to Tokachidake Onsen (十勝岳温泉) and Fukiage Onsen (吹上温泉).

At the upper end of the road to Tokachidake Onsen, Ryounkaku sits at 1280m, Hokkaido’s highest onsen accommodation. It has simple Japanese-style rooms, with shared facilities. The onsen has attractive roten-buro (open-air baths) with sweeping mountain views.
