One of Hokkaido’s most popular places to watch the sunset, Ogon-misaki (literally means the ‘Golden Cape’) making for dramatic photos on a sunny day. Locals hang out on Segoshi-hama (瀬越浜) stretching out to the south of the cape.

Getting There

BUS

Chuo Bus (中央バス) operates highway buses between Rumoi and Sapporo (3hr) via Takikawa (1.5hr) or Fukagawa-shiritsu-byoin (70min). IC cards are available.

Engan Bus (沿岸バス) operates an intercity bus along the coastal Ororon Line between Rumoi-ekimae and Sapporo (3hr) via Mashike.

Getting Around

BUS

Local buses are operated by Engan Bus. Rumoi-ekimae (留萌駅前) bus stop is about 100m east of Chuo Bus Rumoi Terminal (中央バス留萌ターミナル). All the local buses stop at Rumoi-jujigai (留萌十字街) crossroads in Hon-cho, about 1.2km southeast of Ogon-misaki.

Buses run to the following destinations:

Asahikawa (旭川): 2hr; via Fukagawa-jujigai (深川十字街) near JR Fukagawa Station. Dohoku Bus also operates on this route.
O-Betsukari (大別苅): 50min; via Rumoi-Zeimusho-mae (留萌税務署前), Reuke-bokujo-iriguchi (礼受牧場入口) and Kyu-Mashike-eki (旧増毛駅).
Toyotomi Station (豊富駅): 4hr; via Haboro (1.5hr) and Horonobe Station (3.5hr).

BICYCLE

Bike rentals are available at the souvenir shop Okatteya Moe (お勝手屋萌・留萌観光案内所) and Rushin Fureai Park (るしんふれ愛パーク) at the michi-no-eki near Chuo Bus Rumoi bus terminal. Late Apr-late Oct.
