Nakashibetsu (中標津) is considered the center of the Konsen Plateau and a transport hub for other areas. The town is accessible from Sapporo, Kushiro, Shibecha or Nemuro by bus.

Yuyado Daiichi is a wonderfully onsen ryokan on Shibetsu-gawa, with wooden indoor baths, riverside female-only and mixed (kon-yoku) open-air baths. There is also a private bath for guests. Japanese- and Western-style rooms are delightful spacious. Meals are filled with local ingredients. Free transfers from Nakashibetsu’s airport or bus terminal are available for guests (request in advance).
