Getting There

TRAIN

The JR line stops at Otaru-chikko Station (two stops east of Otaru), about 28 minutes by rapid train from Sapporo.

FERRY

Shin-Nihonkai Ferry operates an overnight ferry services to Otaru from Niigata (Tue-Sun; 18hr) and Maizuru (almost daily; 20hr) in Kyoto. Otaru Ferry Terminal is 1.8km west of JR Otaru-chikko Station (5min by taxi or 20min on foot).

Getting Around

BUS

Most buses are operated by Chuo Bus. From Otaru Station Bus terminal stop H (Nagasakiya), buses 1, 38 and 42 go around the Wing Bay Otaru, stopping at the Grand Park Otaru, Parute-chikko (ぱるて築港: north gate of JR Otaru-chikkō Station) and Otaru-ko Marina.

Bus 13 runs from Otaru Station bus terminal stop 2 to Asarigawa-onsen (36min) via Otaru-chikko Station (south gate on Route 5) and Onsen-sakaue (温泉坂上). A one-day pass is available to Bunjisawa (文治沢), about 1km north of Asarigawa Onsen.
