One of Japan’s most scenic industrial port towns, Muroran (室蘭) is a subprefectural capital of Iburi Region on the Etomo Peninsula with a natural harbor.
The contrast between the grand-scale steel factories, rugged coastline, stunning capes, small mountains and Eastern Japan’s longest suspension bridge across the port makes for dramatic landscapes. There are some easier trails with excellent viewpoints around the town.
